When I went to undergrad as a first generation student in my family, I wanted to achieve everything. My schedule would start early, end late and be packed full of classes, events, committees, etc. I had a dream.
I became very sick with extreme fatigue after a stressful quarter as a sophomore and was eventually diagnosed with a hormone imbalance and a viral infection. I was told it would take a long time to get better and that there was nothing the doctors could do for me. I almost had to drop out of college after a quarter of being sick. Determined to find another solution, I spent a lot of time resting and researching what other options I had for healing.
I learned that I have to live more in balance with my energy and my desires. I drastically changed my diet and started meditating regularly. I started drinking herbal teas and using herbs on a regular basis to support and balance my body and energy. I slowly started swimming and hiking on the nearby forest trails as often as I could muster up the energy. These activities changed the very core of my being and with a return of energy, I began to do these changes more frequently.
My recovery was faster than anyone could believe and I attribute this to my approach of treating the whole person. I have continued to use natural therapies for myself and my family for over two decades.
